At least someone has the wisdom to cut his losses in the most expensive science pet project in human history.
But that's not what happened. The amber area stayed dead, inert, while the red brake light section blinked its horrible, crimson blink. It was a deep, deep betrayal. Sure, I know in the US — and, oddly, only in the US — taillights are free to use red for rear turn indicators, and there's plenty of cars that do just…
So I went back out, this time hoping that Lambo magic would be there. It is. When it starts to push, an adjustment of the throttle brings the tail around and makes the car more neutral. A more aggressive lift will really bring the tail around, and it makes the Huracan feel alive and visceral. It became more and more…
Opinions differ on whether it's 'Go Mango' or 'Go Man, Go!', but it's awesome either way.
Did they mean the dolphin, the giant plane or the brownish caviar of the European sturgeon? All we know is that it's metallic.
Chrysler has a long way to go, as we discussed yesterday, but I think they've got a complex vision but at least they seem willing to throw a lot of shit they're doing out in the process. Mark Fields, who at this point might hate us for our frequent jokes in his direction, seems competent and Ford is in the middle of…
This is going to be a three, or maybe four-gear morning that's going to talk a lot about GM. Why? First of all, it's undoubtedly newsworthy. Second of all, I'll reveal a little bias here: I want all American automakers to succeed and that includes GM.
The ABC classes were all about Fit and Civic with an expensive badge. That was the descent of Mercedes to be a volume maker at the expense of quality and exclusivity. That might have worked well in the halcyon days of cheap credit, when losers could afford the badge premium, but, since America and Europe are broken,…
Who the hell even knows? There was barely any mention of the brand at all during the presentation, but the most we could make of its future is that it's now an "Italy-driven brand." Lancia wasn't mentioned until closer to the end of the entire presentation, but if you can make sense of what they want to do with it,…
Under his watch, Ford bought Volvo and Land Rover, put Firestone tires on Explorers and spent billions on turning the world's most profitable car company into a consumer-products and services venture. Idiot.
There are some radio programs that I'd really like to listen to, but either my mind focuses on the words or on my work. On the other hand, I'm a classical music fan, especially from the Baroque period and earlier, and it's always on while I work. Now, whether I'm more productive listening to the music I like or not,…
Clarkson Dynasty?
I didn't know that the N-word was a bad word in the UK. Actually, I didn't know about it being a bad one here either, for where I hail from, the N-word, especially in its augmentative form, is a form of praise, meaning a strong and manly black dude. Then again, we never hung or burned them. History is a bitch…
On a side note, a relative works a major piston supplier and the worldwide push downsizing engines has started to hurt them. All of a sudden, with the down-sizing from 8 to 6, 6 to 4, 4 to 3 and 3 to 2, fewer pistons are needed and the manufacturing capacity is getting underutilized and bleeding money and jobs.
