Funny that you say Scrabble, because I knew it from doing crosswords.
A left leaning comedy show used to be something of a rarity and, along with the immense talents of Jon Stewart, led to The Daily Show becoming the monster it once was. Now it seems as if you can't throw a rock without hitting another show with similar leanings. Even on network TV, an admittedly tamer Stephen Colbert…
Yes he did. It seems the censors were asleep at the switch.
It's hard to put a finger on, but I think it has to do with them attempting to adapt their sketch personas to a live-on-tape talk show. This is especially true of Keegan Michael Key as his character portrayals are the most over the top. I find it forced and abrasive outside of their natural habitat (sketch comedy).

It seems like Michael Weatherly's departure would signal the beginning of the end. I could be wrong, I have seen only a handful of episodes in their entirety.
MATTHEW STECHEL? Paging MATTHEW STECHEL!
Beloved characters in a talk show setting can be a mixed bag. I had to stop watching Key and Peele appearances because it was beginning to make me dislike them. Now Craig Ferguson on "What What Happens Live", I don't see how you can go wrong.
I wrote the following before it entered my idiot mind that it's Ice-T's birthday, not Ice-Cube's. Still gonna post it, because I took the f'n time to type it. So there, too.
What They Were Probably Promoting on Carson (21 Feb 1986):
I fear I may have passed slight lunacy a while back. No matter, lead on, Alasdair, lead on.
I admire your consistency, Alasdair.
From the same host, to not changing the name hardly at all, to being the SAME fucking set (including zombie decorations on the coffee table), it pains me to say I'm going to end up watching it later. It's a sickness.
I was being a bit glib because it wasn't mentioned in the review, but I certainly do appreciate the kudos.
My immediate thought was that they had filmed that for the pilot, but figured it was a little too on the nose for that episode. It doesn't really matter, it made a nice and poignant visual of all that Jimmy has lost.
I thought it was a joke name because it sounds an awful lot like "cum stain", but maybe I just have a dirty mind.
I recorded it to watch later precisely so I could fast-forward through the trivial pursuit crap.
"those two skaters from the pilot"…or as I think of them, the T.J. Miller twins. Recorded the marathon today and re-watched the pilot before the premiere. Looks like they could be his brothers.
It took me a couple of seconds to make the connection. I flashed to the first season of TV Fargo, but I knew that wasn't quite right. The inflections in Price's manner of speech were dead-on. Weird homage.
"Ever since I got here all I've tried to do is make Chuck happy. Bend over backwards to please Chuck. Chuck, Chuck….Chuck. Well, no more."
That was a brilliant piece of writing…"the Hindenburg…the Andrea Doria…Corky Romano…"
