I hate to state the obvious (no I don't, I LOVE to state the obvious!), but just because Adam is from the college that has the course with the specified required reading, doesn't mean that he should automatically be familiar with the course / reading. Ahhh, that felt good.

What They Were Probably Promoting on Carson (2 Feb 1989):

He sounded as if he could hardly hold back his exasperation at several points during the game. I tend to cut them some slack, because they are just kids relatively speaking, but NOT Trebek. He was having none of it.

STILL not pointing any fingers, but this wasn't posted on the front page.

“You’ve been a thin layer of insouciance over an open pit of self-pity your entire life.”

Found the clip:

Whenever I see Drew Brees, I immediately think of Oprah trying to wipe the birthmark off of his face. How's that for a legacy, Drew?

What They Were Probably Promoting on Carson (7 Oct 1983):

The unforgivable fact that I watched Bio-Dome in it's entirety still haunts me to this day.

The Road House remake is so ill-conceived. I mean, the beauty of the original is that it's a horrible movie, in a great way. How do you remake a bad movie that was actually awesome? No amount of Ronda Rousey is gonna help.

You'll be sorry in the morning. Probably sore, too.

What They Were Probably Promoting on Carson (13 Sep 1974):

"Sandy is a great name because it can apply to a son or a daughter. So he lucked out because you are definitely one of those things." (tiny smidgen of poetic license)

Definitely. Between the animation AND getting Jack Black back in the studio, I'm sure it wasn't cheap. I personally thought they got their money's worth. Blatant advertising, yes, but it didn't feel that forced and definitely did not feel cheap.

I had the same guess as Chris (Cornwallis), but felt stupid after the answer was revealed. That happens more often than I feel comfortable admitting.

The Carl LaFong bit made me think of Dana Carvey's impression of F. Lee Bailey at the O.J. trial:
