You can order most any dell without Office sothe price difference isn't $350.

I'm in IT and salary and fix Microsoft Windows servers so if you divide the hours I work then I make must make less than minimum wage :)

I learned my lesson with hotmail the day I logged in and all my messages were gone. Thats the biggest risk with web based, you give up control over important things like backups.

I prefer to prevent that stuff from coming to me as much as possible. Opt out of paperless statements and unsolicited credit card applications then you don't have them sitting the mailbox where they can be taken.

That actually doesn't work. The reason is it doesn't actually cost them extra. A bulk rate postage is paid up front. They tell the USPS that are sending out x number of pre paid mailing envelopes and the USPS charges them a fee and thats done.

When I get a new machine the first thing I do is reinstall it clean. I want to know that the install CD and key are good and that I can find and download all the drivers for the hardware before I'm in the middle of somehting and need to do it because something broke. Typically I'll create a c:\drivers then download

Its not attached to your foot, you attach both ends to the camera and then step on the loop. So if you turn to walk away then its released.

You know, the whole reason to use Windows was/is backwards compatibility but its funny how everyone has to migrate to a new version. The amount of work it takes to migrate from Windows to Linux is now less than what it takes to migrate from Windows to Windows.

Actually FF has this limit as well. A quick search finds a page detailing this "fix"

@zolielo:

as far as scanning files, you want to try to eliminate paper as much as possible. Most banks and other bills can be set for paperless statements so you just download them instead of scanning.

Look at the notes on the goodwill listings on that web site. Things such as "will accept working computers less than three years old". I have so much stuff that they won't take that I don't want to just throw in the trash.

@cv

Now a days any corporate data is sensitive data and using tools such as gmail or their apps are usually a violation of the corporate security policy. They are also not a good idea for smaller businesses, the more you give up control the greater the risk.

#2, the place for your pocket stuff isn't ona desk. If its not in your pocket is should be near your bed so its within reach in the event of a fire/flood/whatever.

At least you can reccyle cans, no on in the city of Columbus wants to take mine. I had to toss a whole bag in the trash.
