There’s certainly a ton of that going on. Its sad how guys who are competitive though generally good sports to other guys can be real asshats when it comes to women. Unfortunately all too often guys want women in gaming because they see it as widening the dating pool within gaming not because they want

Ultimately, I don’t think it matters why he’s doing it if the end result is more inclusion. We (men) so often complain about the lack of women who also happen to enjoy our hobbies but then make it so hard (whether consciously or not) for newcomers to get into them.

Put quite a few hours into the PC version of it from the Windows Store though never finished. Is there any indication that these improvements made it over to PC?

Do PS Plus releases include the DLCs? If not, do they let you purchase them on top of the free game?

You guys convinced me to spend some time with 20XX:

Went to check Steam; turns out I already own it. Definitely going to give it a go on the way home this evening.

I loved the books, loved the casting and was curious what they’d do with Susannah and Eddie but seriously, 95mins. of run time? Just how much of this movie was left on the cutting room floor? Even if they wanted to there’d be no way to include two more characters (one who is a split personality, so really three) with

I’ve been loving the game so far on my commute this morning. Though at least in the early game the battling part is too short. Also, I’d really like a full on 2d platformer using the same engine.

Thanks for the write up it helps a bit. I just got a copy of the game and am going to a local gaming meetup at the end of the week. I need to spend some time in these menus to really get a feel for what I’m doing.

That’s an interesting way to look at it (Banner Saga) and actually fits quite well. I think it suffers a bit from no one really knowing what the game was. I bought it based on it being from Supergiant but didn’t really know what the game was about and expected something a little more action focused. Having said that I

I’ve been playing this on a handheld PC on my commute and it fits the subway ride though my stop sometimes comes at a crucial moment in an encounter and I find myself hanging out on the platform until I get to a good stopping point.

Or even the way Hotline Miami did it, lots of dying but almost instant respawn. If death is part of the core experience then it becomes important to figure out just how much to punish the player for it.

I don’t know that I’d call this a Metroidvania; Hollow Knight is more of a Metroidvania. I’ve been playing that Strider reboot from 2014 lately (missed it when it was new); now that feels like a Metroidvania.

Love Hollow Knight! Need to go back and finish it.

Its funny; that speeder bike level is one of the gaming moments where I felt the most accomplished though present day me just wouldn’t have time for that much frustration. 25yr old me might have even had time but add 15yrs to that and not so much.

Oh also, Dead Cells is in alpha and every once in a while their updates will corrupt your save. Its not supposed to happen and I’ve carried my save through most of the updates but it does suck to lose 10hrs of progress due to an update.

How are you liking Pyre? I really liked Bastion and Transistor but not sure what to make of it yet. I’m working on a pc handheld (I know, no point now that the Switch is out) so I’m playing a lot of games on mobile that weren’t meant to be. I’m not really feeling Pyre so far though I’m going to give it a go on the

Also give Dead Cells a go if you haven’t already.

I really like Dead Cells in comparison to this. Started playing both alphas/betas around the same time and couldn’t put Dead Cells down.

After logging in some time with the beta, I have to agree. I think it has plenty of polish but the balance is way off. I enjoy challenging games but not every single encounter needs to be a life and death struggle. Fighting low level enemies should have some challenge to it (if they swarm) but at the same time
