I don't think Jay's death rings hollow. Their romance wasn't a fully formed one. Much of the grief comes from a lost potential for love than lost love itself.

I guess I'm in the minority around here, but I'm probably going to want as much of this film as they can give me. And if we get a three hour extended cut on video, I'm all for it.

Totally agree. I'm an atheist, too, but this universe clearly established its rules early on, so people who cry "deus ex machina" later on … well, they somehow forgot this.
