Nomi's father was actually introduced in the first season. It was for the most part a scene built just to show the pain of her past. There is a nice subtle moment that allows her father's defense in this episode to have built in context (and be "earned" in my book). It is entirely the mother who is breathing fire…

Disagree - I loved it.

I think the main issue with Orange is the New Black realized that their protagonist is the least enjoyable character on the show. I thought Season 3 moved away from the Piper-centric first and second seasons which was a REALLY good move.
