Hey dude, You nailed it. It's so that the cars can get more steering lock. The FRS/BRZ is much more exaggerated with the poke since it comes with a flat 4 and the frame rails are pushed pretty wide not leaving much room under the wheel well for steering clearance.

From my understanding, there is a pretty serious speed-freak culture over there. This video just didn't cover that aspect, with the exception of a little bit of RWB Porsche action.
