Thanks. Seriously, its nice to hear it from someone other than the person giving me the hearing aids. Its been a hell of a ride so far with most of the trip draining a significant portion of my savings (grad student so it wasn’t much to begin with)

Alright, so how does it do with human speech? Can it filter out the unwanted background noise of a crowded room and let you have a normal conversation with those around you?

As cool as this is I have a feeling Google is going to have its hands full in terms of figuring out patent issues. There are currently a bunch of very vague patents out there about simply putting conductive yarns in fabrics which may prove problematic for this venture (I had to work around the patents in a recent

I would be pretty comfortable too if the entire country has come to recognize that if a product has the name Gore on it then it has to be the best.

I agree that not much comes close (eVent is close in breathability buy not quite there in durability), and just like you I have firsthand experience in the field but also in the lab. The reason nothing comes close is because they held the patent on their specific material/process until probably 15 years ago now. Now

I totally agree that the weaving process is key and is what separates them from the rest of the market. I just didn't see it as a market that Gore was looking to compete in at this time.

I must be missing something on how they are going to "dethrone" Gore-tex. Gore-tex is simply an expanded PTFE membrane just like eVent or some others out there. W. L. Gore sell the different versions of that membrane to companies to include in their products. Voormi from what I can tell is simply using a unique method

With each trip update you post my jealousy grows! Especially now since you have featured a segment on climbing. I am a beginner but avid climber just finally making my way into the world of outdoor climbing in the Appalachian mountains where this time of year, convincing myself to get out and climb is getting harder

The booze was a tricky one! Happy hour on the town ended up being not so happy but at least the duty free at the airport had some good deals. Despite what people say, Brennivin is not that bad. Still don't quite understand the Scandinavian fascination with licorice though. You have heard correctly, their English is

The picture is actually a close up of the mini "mountains" of ice that litter the front end of the glacier and probably further in as well. To give you a sense of scale, the larger of the formations in the background is probably about 4-6 feet high maximum. The picture attached to this loooooooong post is of about the

Unfortunately that is not always a possibility. In the DH disaster, oil was dispersed into tiny microdroplets that remained suspended, trapped below the surface of the water for a really long time. Eventually most will make it to the surface but not necessarily in high enough concentrations to effectively clean or

If I am not mistaken, the family of the inventor of the original Frisbee had his ashes made into a specialized set of discs.

Have you yet thought of using _______ for the cooling vest? I kid of course. I cannot wait to see what you and the folks over at Tested.com come up with.

Svínafellsjökull was one of the more beautiful short hikes I went on while there. Although there were a lot of tourists there at the time who seemed taken aback by the "dirty" ice. It really provided some nice dynamic to the first section of the hike as well as some sweet pictures.

You have probably already been told but if you make any purchases (non food and gas type stuff) be sure to save the receipts. When you leave Iceland you should be able to get back most of the 25% sales tax at the airport. Also KEX Hostel is by far one of the best in the area.

WOO WOO!! REPRESENT!!!
