In the 80s a group of "concerned parents" forced the administration to ban our AD&D club in high school, so we switched to Gamma World and Star Frontiers just to fuck with them

If it hadn't been for D&D being painted with the scary brush, I might have ended up playing it instead of Shadowrun, Earthdawn, or WEG's D6 Star Wars.

I'm a Christian, from a conservative Christian family, who played D&D as a kid, and continue to... And my parents never had a problem with it... cause they aren't idiot.

I am, I suppose, an outlier. I grew up in Oklahoma (not precisely the world center of progressive thought), and was raised by conservative Christians. Thankfully, they were also thoughtful, intelligent parents who enjoyed classic science-fiction and fantasy novels. I was introduced to D&D by my uncle, which likely

Am I REALLY the only person who thought this movie failed to deliver?! I see trustworthy reviewers talking about how this is the greatest disney film since the freaking lion king, but come on...sure it had its charm, and Josh Gad did a great job with Olaf, but this movie did not do it for me...they had awesome

I'm sorry. Factually accurate? Bruno? It was complete baiting. I nearly turned off my TV in disgust, and I've been looking forward to Cosmos for months now.

I didn't really see it as anti-religion myself. I know that Neil deGrasse Tyson is an atheist (and Seth McFarlane is something of an anti-theist) but I felt the treatment of Giodarno Bruno was actually pretty balanced. Yes, the Catholic Church (and the Protestant churches) persecuted Bruno for his beliefs; that's a

I did think it was amusing when the Ship of the Imagination was flying through the Kuiper Belt dodging asteroids like the Millennium Falcon. Sagan had a few of these dramatic conceits as well. Tyson does mention that the objects in the Oort cloud, much further away, are as far from each other as Earth is from

I like the idea...

I watched it, and it touched me in many of the same ways that the original airing of Carl Sagan's Cosmos did when I was a child. It felt straightforward and when put in the context of those who know about science a bit simple. But you need simple, and you need it to be inspiring to the people who matter: the kids

The first episode didn't go over too well in our household. Too fast paced and all over the place. Shows like Through the Worm Hole are a much better Cosmos than Cosmos was :) Hopefully they focus more in the next episodes.

I enjoyed the program, but I have to say I was a little disappointed. It all seemed almost a little too broad to me. The truly special bits for me were the animation and the artistic features of the program, but I was hoping for a little bit more meat in regards to information. I felt like they touched on a lot of

Yep, I couldn't get over how catchy the song was and I kept thinking it was David Bowie-esque with a hint of Vangelis. Shazam proved me wrong and it was instant purchase for me.

Definitely a lot of Vangelis influences in the show. They had light up umbrellas from Blade Runner in the 2nd or 3rd episode. They also pulled a bit of a Robocop homage with Dorian busting through a wall to take down a criminal early on as well.

I thought I was the only one- music was definitely a Blade Runner homage this week!

Right there with you, dude! Granted, it's not perfect and maybe I'm not smart enough to see what everybody's nitpicking on, but I absolutely love this show (and would probably love it even more had FOX not dicked around and shown episodes out of order—thank god for Blu-ray sets!). I love the whole retro future

After watchng the episode, I couldn't stop thinking of Judy. There she was, spent months chatting with her friend online, never once getting the courage to tell him her big secret. They make plans to meet, and surely she'll have to tell him when he shows up. But then he appears out of the blue one night. They meet,

I thought this episode was just the best. Unlike most other episodes the universe connected with the technology. Other episodes often have a tech-of-the-week that's forgotten by the next episode, but this one tied into the Chrome stuff that was covered last week as well, which allows it to go far deeper. That combined

Did anyone notice the music at the end (before the band played). Sounded a lot like Blade Runner, where it is kind of echo-y ping-ping.

Have I mentioned how much I fucking love this show??!! I think I'm having an overload of 80's nostalgia, however, rather than immersion. But I absolutely love it. Right up my alley. Solidly remains on our list of TOP FAVE CURRENT SHOWS & I definitely hope there's a series 2!
