Agreed. But you’re talking about literally every form of fandom. People lose their shit over a movie they saw as a kid. It’s insanity.

The fact a picture of the Tiguan was accidentally used for the Taos is telling.

QOTD: what are the most uninspiring Slide Shows on Jalopnik this year?

This whole thing is a lie, but if it wasn't, 100% chance it's a flat black Tahoe. He's a right winger, so it has to be American, and he's not bright enough to get anything but one of the big 3.

It’s a strong indication of how much contempt Republicans have for the American voting public that they continue to claim that moderate Democrats are “socialists”. No one who has any understanding of actual socialism could make that claim with a straight face.

Likely he “has” to have a SUV because of the 6000 GVWR rule for businesses.

There’s nothing in the use case described in the post that suggests a real need for AWD. And I’m with you on good tires being a total game changer. The “need” that many folks feel for AWD is more a result of clever marketing on the part of Audi and Subaru a few decades ago that has now snowballed into a mass

No, no.

Teslas differentiate themselves on all sorts of attributes in which they’re pretty unique. You’re mentioning the really big and tangible ones; the giggle factor with some of their features (dog mode, ludicrous mode, what have you) and the acceleration boner with the higher-powered versions play into that as well.

New weight saving Anti-Panels™!

They probably don’t care because they don’t have to. People will line out the door to buy these regardless of build quality - the fanbase is the same type of image-focused people who line up to buy the new iPhone every year. I suspect Tesla would make more of an effort if their build quality started to affect sales.

As a previous owner of a 01 ‘Lude. This is straight Crack pipe!! These people outta they damn mind! I loved my 01 but there’s no way I loved it that much. She burned way too much oil and gulped the dino juice like it was bottomless mimosas!

I used to own an 01 Type SH with a manual. It was a very special car and I adored it. That being said, I’d pay $12-15k MAX for one in todays looney toons car market. $50k buys plenty of cars far superior to the 5th Gen Prelude.

As good as they were, the Integra was better. And you can still find halfway decent ones in the $10k range, even with the crazy prices these days.

A ‘99 Prelude SH with a 5-speed is one of the best cars of that era I’ve ever driven. I’d gladly pay $10-12k for a great example of one.

Musk is already exactly what you’re talking about. His family is rich, and all he’s done is buy other people’s ideas with daddy’s apartheid emerald money.

I would certainly not trade places. The main reason China “ works” is because the entire population is kept under an iron-like grip of the CCP which constantly monitors its citizens 24/7 and any and all forms of dissidence is immediately squashed. Freedom of the press is non-existent. Most ethnic minorities have

“Are you also nostalgic for the tiny, friendly, two-door SUV?”

China was a war torn colonial playground just 100 years ago. A big mistake we as Americans make is judging other parts of the world by our current conditions.

Is it really that big a mystery why China is able to make things for 30+% less than other large nations? I’d imagine a huge portion of that is made up by labor costs (and the associated reductions in quality of life). There’s a reason the entire world’s manufacturing moved to China. Toyota isn’t comparing apples to
