I enjoy both at once - being surprised by music from back in the day. I “dicovered” Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake and Leonard Cohen about fifteen or twenty years ago, and Robert Johnson and George Gershwin a few years before that, and I still keep getting startled by music that was made before I was born.

“Well represented” and “most popular” is a huge overstatement. T’Challa, Luke Cage, and Ororo have consistently been the most awesome Marvel heroes, but they have not been the best promoted or best selling. Marvel spent thirty years depicting the white liberal version of blackness - exotic and/or sidekick. It’s not a

Pretty much any issue of the Priest run could be a point on this list.

He goes into a room and pays her to “do stuff”. There’s no need for him to have a functioning penis, the transfer of funds is his version of ejaculation.

They grow up so fast

That’s what I hoped for and all I need to know, thanks!

I’m a “wait for the trades” guy (which, yes, I am aware makes me part of the reason the best titles get cancelled). Deathstroke is very much on my radar, but I haven’t started it yet.

Michelle’s garden was replaced by a Ferris Wheel emblazoned with the name “Cooger & Dark’s Pandemonium Shadow Show”, make of that what you will...

Pizza Is My Business is one of the best comic books, full stop.

Star Wars has a good analogy - World of Wakanda and The Crew are comparable to Rogue One and Han Solo - stepchildren, but still loved and in the family.

Absolutely agree. From a commercial standpoint, Ross was the worst of worst of both worlds - he alienated white readers because he was a mouse, he alienated Black readers because he took up so much of the narrative.

Even that “urban”run starring Kasper Cole and then the Crew miniseries are great comic books. Different, but great.

There will be amateur cosplay, have no doubt.

Ross attracted white readers, sure, but I think he also attracted Priest - Priest loves writing white goofballs in black worlds, and he’s better at it than any writer I can think of - see also Iron Fist and Woody (of Quantum & Woody).

It couldn’t happen, I don’t think, but my dream casting for Kraven would be Dwayne Johnson or Vin Diesel. I’m thinking more about Ultimate Kraven who was an Australian douchebag who had appropriated indigenous spirituality for his TV show, and I think it would be even more interesting with the “my grandmother was an

The biggest difference is that Black Panther is a comic book first. It’s easy for Star Wars movie makers to dismiss their comic books and novels and cartoons and games as “promotional materials” even when they are artistically head and shoulders above the films. For Black Panther movie makers to dismiss the creative
