Okay, that was legitimately funny/terrifying.

The person who decided to sing Hallelujah as Clinton was not the person in charge of booking Trump as a guest.

Again, half the point here is that a lot of very normal human beings have abused women or facilitated abuse. You don’t have to show her your “nice guy” credentials and she doesn’t have to show you her “legitimate victim” credentials. I never thought you didn’t believe the story, but your question was inappropriate for

I don’t hear you say non-magical Warlords.

That sounds about right. If 37 percent of white American adults have a college degree, it would make sense that in about fifty percent of such households, there is at least one (and often exactly one out of the two) adult with a college degree.

It does say that in about half of white households, at least one partner has at least a Bachelor’s degree. I’m certainly not claiming that the Survey of Consumer Finances is infallible, and if you have a more reliable source, I’d be happy to take a look at it.

Even a working class white family is more likely to own at least one car outright, which provides a source for a relatively low interest loan in a one time emergency situation. It’s not like most white people have thousands of dollars just lying around, but the wealth gap is still there.

That’s one thing I liked about 4e, it had a good variety of Divine Classes and non-Cleric healers. Sing the praises of the Avenger and the Warlord!

“Stop being enablers of abusers” pretty well covers it. If you have not enabled abuse in the way described by this article, you’re not being called out. You are not obligated to be the protector of women any more than you are obligated to offer a jump to someone with a dead battery - it’s just basic human decency to

If you want something more substantial than nothingness, you could engage with the solutions already offered in the section helpfully labeled “Solutions”. I didn’t think it was necessary to repeat what had already been said, but here are the links if you missed them:

You are right that waiting for racism to be dismantled was not my argument, nor was it in the “beautiful and wonderful comments” Branigin wrote under Solutions. She also did not dismiss or ignore financial literacy, which would include all ten of your points. You seem to think that you are helping, or making a point

“Most white households (71 percent) report being able to get $3,000 from family or friends in a financial emergency, compared with less than half of Hispanic and black households (49 percent and 43 percent, respectively).”

That’s all fine advice, but has nothing to do with structural inequalities that have been built over centuries and are being built higher today. Recognizing that it is much harder for a black family to acquire wealth is not the same thing as teaching all children the magic of compound interest.

Some of them do want the status quo to change, but the change includes a complete erasure of everyone who isn’t like them. You can have dark skin, of course, as long as you buy into hippie/hipster culture and pretend that you are exactly like them. That counts as “woke”.

For your edification, there’s a bunch of comments in here already that may or may not apply to MimiRosie’s specific story, but definitely apply to why should not ask for details first. First, listen. Second, believe. Third, carry that with you going forward.

Edit: I should have mentioned that poor whites are usually either young or old. Either way, the same difference applies - there are likely to be property owners close to you in the generation ahead of you or behind you who can help turn an emergency into a bad day/week/year rather than a permanent downward spiral.

Thank you so much for this.

You make it sound like a majority of Puerto Ricans support the status quo, which is false.

Making it about what you are supposed to say makes it about you, and makes the solution that point where you say the right thing and get forgiven and feel good about yourself again. Listen. It’s not about you. What you say and do tomorrow matters, but it won’t be the turning point in the history of the world, it’ll

Fuck you. First, let’s get this one out of the way before you’re deservedly banned, it’s not about feeling sorry. It’s about listening, it’s about standing up, it’s about standing together and being heard.
