That's all really great stuff guys, thanks very much.

I'm looking to replace my wife's laptop and I'm having a little trouble pulling the trigger. I built my desktop so I can get up to speed on components relatively easily, but I don't have any familiarity with laptop brands so if you guys have any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

That monkey is kind of creeping me out.

If I could, I would +1 this comment. Maybe it doesn't make sense to you. Maybe it's a slight (very slight in the greater scheme of things as pointed out in the article) burden on your life to have to stop reading/talking/surfing for 10 mins. But really, what makes you or your life so important that we should

For what it's worth, when I built my comp several years ago, my Core 2 Duo E6600 came with a stock heatsink that had the compound already on the heatsink. I didn't have to apply anything; it was sort of like a gummy material that was designed to spread itself properly by melting into the cracks and crevices.

Thanks for the replies guys. I would probably get the same model if I could, but the build is 5 years old now and I don't think I'm going to be able to track down the same thing.

So I'm pretty sure my power supply bit it the other day. I was waking it from sleep, heard a short hiss like sound, heard a pop, and saw a little flash from inside through the clear side of my case and then no power at all. I built the computer myself so now it's time to serve as my own tech support.

I like G+ so much more than FB largely b/c of what's not there in comparison as opposed to what is there. No and the absence of "friends" that I'm not really interested in keeping in touch with.

I seriously can't recommend enough getting a dehumidifier. We just bought one about a month ago and it has made a huge difference between this summer and last summer when we didn't have it, with no adjustment to the thermostat.

I'm going to go with zipo on this one. No self-respecting tea drinker from the South (shout out to Atlanta) would try to sweeten their tea cold.

Patience is the other thing. I have to say the thing that was a bit frustrating for me when I first starting commenting was there was no way for me to know if my comments were actually making it to the server or not. It would initially be displayed, but if I left the page and then came back it wouldn't appear.

Okay, so some of the folks I'm following that I enjoy:

The thing I've done that has filled much of my G+ time is adding Google employees to my Circles. In addition to getting some interesting insights into the ongoing development of G+, some of the Google employees are simply interesting people.

Don't know if it will necessarily fit your needs, but I've liked hosting on Dreamhost (www.dreamhost.com)

Recently read some pretty interesting stuff that is actually outside of my typical wheelhouse.

Just checking to see if anyone is still looking for a Google+ invite. I've gotten all my friends in, so if you need one you can either post here or send me a PM.

Not happy about this. I might have to look at cutting back to streaming only and getting rid of the disc rentals. I think I'd rather pop for an OnDemand rental from time to time than pay for a monthly fee that I'm not going to use.

I can add you to a circle, but you usually have to hit the timing right to actually get in. They are opening and closing the invite window in pretty short spurts, so it's not always easy to get people in.

Honestly, I don't want a lot of my "friends" from FB to come to G+ when I get it. Those people that I rarely even talked to in high school that have friended me can stay on FB. Those that I still keep up with are the ones I want to be in my Circle on G+.
