It's a bitter reference to victim blaming in rape cases. You know, the whole "she wore a miniskirt so she was asking for it" mentality.

It's not at all inappropriate, it merely demonstrates the power dynamic. However, if you do want to avoid it, you could try: "Might it be possible to meet with you to discuss..." or " Do you have appointments available this week so that we could discuss...?"
I understand that she wasn't on the phone. I was responding to a comment, and to the fact that Ms. Taylor-Brown made a comment about how she *could* have been driving while on the phone and harmed herself upon hearing this news.
I feel terrible for this woman, and can't even imagine how awful it was for her to have heard this news in any manner.
You know what I would be more comfortable with? The "Mr. Knightley myth." He drives me crazy, and is so much more of a controlling asshat than Darcy ever was.
You can get them on sale at Target for, like, 8 bucks.
It's because of the way her eyes are shaped, probably. I have the same shape to my eyes, and I often hear the comment that my eyes look a little sad even when I'm smiling joyfully.
This was exactly what I thought the moment I started reading this story.
Just plain vanilla can be kind of boring, yes.
I agree. Please, please write all future science coverage.
I'll have to agree to disagree with you on this one. I apply it to people of the male gender, and have heard other people do so with some regularity, as well. It's really not the same as calling someone "honey," which is more of a term of endearment unless it's used sarcastically (or to describe a woman in some sort…
Have you read the books? In Panem (where Jennifer's character Katniss lives), the Capitol is where all the bad guys who take everything from the people in the Districts live. Katniss is forced to go there to perform for the cameras on multiple occasions.
Why does it bother you so much? It's just a term that implies that someone is the favorite of a particular group, and can be applied to a person of either sex.
How is this idea new? The people of Ancient Greece knew exactly what they were doing when they watched those heartrending plays. They even gave it a name: catharsis.
... She's attending an event at "Capitol" cinema? Anyone else think that's kind of funny?
I've seen Adventureland. It's exactly the same.
I have a general problem with KStew for all of the bad-acting reasons that lots of others are talking about here, but also...
This team thing has been going on forever. Are you old enough to remember Dawson's Creek? Team Pacey and Team Dawson? It just seems to be what people do with love triangles, especially in storylines that are aimed at young adults.
I have two degrees and I somehow managed to put on actual pants every [day...or] a skirt. :)
I made my own elopement dress. I had no idea I was eloping, or that the dress was for my wedding (wasn't even engaged yet!).
