Just to be up front here: I recently purchased a Model 3. I’ve driven it for a hair less than a month.

Many who paid a deposit, I think, were interested in the base model. I did not order the base model. Mind you, I didn’t order the “full bells and whistles” model, either, but I suspect the options I went for had more ready stock.
I’m fully on-board with electric vehicles - I really really want Rivian to succeed but I’m tempering my expectations until I see the production version of their vehicles and get to drive one.
I think that the SEC already did that.
Dude....!
I guess the only thing I can tell you is, like me, read up on the product. See for yourself the potential savings of no longer having to deal with gasoline, oil changes, and potentially brakes (I myself tend to need to change the brake pads roughly 50,000 miles into owning a vehicle, so that potential savings is…
No, at worst, what he has done is illegal.
Personally, the hate directed toward Musk makes perfect sense to me. He has all the worst characteristics of a hatable CEO. He makes wild claims, twists his own words to ensure that he is always correct, and engages in lunatic conspiratorial rationalization.
On the plus side, the price of EVs has dropped, though perhaps not quite enough for some. The base Model 3, I believe, is still priced between $35,000 and $37,500, so there’s hope that it could go down from there.
All right, forget Henry Ford. Different times and all.
the same people hating on the tesla today are the same people who hated smart phones back in 2007... go ahead and cling to your flip phones and ICE engines...
I mean hell: it’s faster 0-60 than a base 911, more efficient than a Prius, roomier than both, and safer than both. It’s made in the US, and (in my case) powered from my roof. If I drive it for 100k miles, it’ll save me over $15,000 in gas alone, plus another grand or two in oil changes.
I get everything you say. There are things about Tesla that makes me scratch my head, certainly!
As I stated, the S and X Models were way outside my price range. Luckily, with a trade in, which amounted to a little over $10,000, I was able to afford the Model 3.
I give you credit: At least you gave the Tesla a try and found it not to your liking.
I love the Model 3 - it’s truly a blast to drive, and a really innovative car! That said, having to wait four months for a busted frunk actuator to be replaced...
(Tesla vehicles) seemed interesting, and I hate paying for gas, so I rented one for a weekend. Holy shit. Ordered one the next week, and have continually been impressed ever since.
It’s amazing how much people like to hate on Tesla. I think they’re lacking a true corporate focus (luxury vs mass-market, can’t really do both) but otherwise deliver a substantially good product.
You guys love to hate because you can’t be bothered to get informed, at all.
