I have a reservation for the Lightning and I’ve contacted my dealer multiple times and I still haven’t even seen an options list with prices. I was told I’ll have to wait until 10/26 when the order books supposedly open up, which is insane. And I still haven’t gotten my dealer to put in writing that they won’t charge

If someone is disassembling your Tesla in your driveway, you have bigger privacy concerns”

This is pretty much the logic behind one of our most commonly used devices at work having a physical button on the front panel to simply bypass the admin password. If the attacker has physical access to this device, you’ve lost

I share your rage on this subject. With the number of people who drive around with 1 busted tail light it becomes really hard to tell whether people are braking or intending to turn/change lanes.

other companies make FWD EVs too (which wouldn’t require a flatbed) and not being able to get it in neutral is more of a software issue. Had the same issue in a friends BMW. It’s not really isolated to EV, quite frankly.

Since these fuckers have so much cargo space, they should be able to fit 4 of these somewhere?

If we’re talking about new regulatory requirements let’s first get rid of shitty terrible horrible no-good awful shithouse American turn signals where they just flash one brake light instead of having a separate amber indicator.

Exactly. This isnt an electrical car issue, its a modern car issue.

I sat on the side of 91 for 3 hours once waiting for a tow truck, just south of Hartford.

Apparently the author hasnt been in a car newer than like 2010.

Where do you live that you can get anything in the world brought to you in the middle of the night through a huge traffic jam in less than 45 minutes?

Boomers live for this shit. And sure, I’m stereotyping, but I can think of many fathers (including my own) where going out and finding that “deal” was the weekend hobby (instead of the things that lazy, poor people do, like go for a walk, or play golf).

Because for most a car is just an appliance, and even those who want something interesting, it’s a pain in the ass to do the negotiation. If it already takes hours to do paperwork on a car bought at sticker, why would I spend more of my time trying to convince a business to lose money on something they know they can

I didn’t say you didn’t get a good deal, I said you didn’t get a deal $12k better than the random schmuck off the street.

Because no other product - save houses, I suppose - reasonably gets advertised and marketed at once price but ends up changing value from seller to seller. You don’t see Best Buy selling a TV for $2000 when the same one at Target sells for $500.

I don’t understand how car companies spend that much money and time to develop their product and stuff like the auto off ‘feature’ in my Jeep can still cause my windows to go from rolling up to rolling down or why the onboard computer and touchscreen still suck so badly.

People making difference choices with how to spend their time and money aren’t always “lazy”, “pussies”, “getting screwed” or whatever other pejorative you feel the need to use to make yourself feel better.

I emailed CarMax, told them I was interested in a car, they brought it to me pulled behind a Mercedes Sprinter with a full office inside. I test drove it, agreed to buy, signed the paperwork inside the van (they never even set foot inside my house) and they drove away while I had a gently used 1 year old car in my

Dealers run sales on cars without negotiating all the time. I’m sure you feel like you negotiated every dime of that $12k, but probably not. You likely did marginally better than a person who wanted the same car and would have put in even less effort.

I do not understand how car companies spend billions of dollars and man hours on research and development of their product, yet they allow the customer experience at the point of sale to be such a shit show.
