Fine, not a landslide, but a solid victory. Thompson only got 46% of the vote. She also won a lot of counties - not just urban areas. The power of the Obama is not to be denied but she ran a brilliant campaign that turned Wisconsin’s beloved old fool Tommy Thompson into an unelectable old fool.

I have to admit that I’m a Wisconsinite and wasn’t sure with all of the candidates who I should be getting behind. I’m now sure.

In 2012 we elected Tammy Baldwin to the Senate. Openly gay and super liberal, and she won easily. Wisconsin is weird.

But Tammy Baldwin won in a landslide in the intermediate Senate election. She defeated Tommy Thompson who had served as governor for forever before taking a post in the Bush administration. Wisconsin is a complex place. Walker is awful, as is Ron Johnson, and I hope both are gone soon (Johnson is locked in for awhile).

I’m so sorry you and your daughhter are going through this. My son is almost four and I worry he has inherited my anxiety disorder and it breaks my heart. Wishing you and your daughter much strength and health.
