I actually agree with both sentiments. It depends on the expectations of the creator(s). If you expect your work to reach a wide audience, yes you should “make your own shit.” Create your own brand, or else don’t complain if you don’t have the license and it gets shut down.

This is such great design.

I think they can be hit or miss sometimes, but they consistently make a new strip every few days. It isn’t easy and it’s impossible to strike gold every time, but I also think that is a key reason why the strip is so successful. Plus they are kind of an OG of web comics.

Because the force. Questions answered.

Once a month would be cool. The permadeath would still be meaningful but you could still, you know, play the game you bought.

Me as well. I thought it looked really original based on the trailer, then after watching realized there was pretty much nothing in the movie that wasn't in the trailer.

I saw the preview and can't wait to watch it. It looks really original.

Awesome!

It's all good. Sorry if I insulted your artistic ability.

The PlayStation Ex-Mortis:

I only got a bit defensive because I was defending something I think is pretty cool. And really, no “attempt at an intellectual wall”. I don’t understand your logic. By your example of Pokemon, I would argue that is one of, if not the most prevalent subject of fan art. Wouldn’t that make anything Pokemon played out,

I didn't assume based on anonymity, I assumed based on your highly critical and ill thought comment. Any fan art, by its nature, is going to be a reinterpretation of an existing concept. What would be acceptable, he tones down the realism 25%? 75%? Renders the characters just like the show? I doubt it would be

You go out and make some better artwork then.

To be fair it sounds like he was relating his thoughts at the time he first played Mario, not necessarily his view now. PC and Nintendo games were a vastly different animal at the time of NES, and I could certainly see how a child being a fan of one would be disappointed in the other. I haven’t read the book, but

Exactly. VR is going to take off because of much more than games. It's not technology like google glass or Apple watch that is nifty but that's it. I think it will be more like radio, TV, film, etc. and completely revolutionize how we interact with technology.

I haven't seen this in years. Thank you.

Went to a 24 hr Wal Mart at midnight af

Thanks for breaking the sad news, Patrick. Came out of nowhere. The nightmares will be missed.

Or this! D:

Really?! That game was good? WTF? I remember wanting to check it out but every review made it seem like the worst game since ET, so I never did.
