I hope you still wear them. They are illegal here, too, but who’s going to know, and what cop is going to cite you for them (I know - there are those “special” cops who will). I lost a significant amount of hearing after several years of riding without plugs. Luckily, I started wearing them before things got too bad.

There are lots more reasons for such apparent death spikes, including things like a jump in the number of older, retired guys who go out and buy big motorcycles and hit the road with zero experience. And most deaths on motorcycles are caused by things that a helmet would have done nothing to prevent or ameliorate.…
