Make sure your browser isn't blocking third party cookies. And while we offer the option to connect as a burner, I would highly recommend using a social account, because you'll never get locked out of one of those. I'd even suggest going as far as creating a fake social account to use for Kinja, if you're worried that

Personally, I wholly agree that nesting trumps flat threads, but I've fought that battle in the past and lost. I've since come to enjoy our approach to comments and the vision behind all that.

1. The A.V. Club’s layout will be very similar to Deadspin’s, with a few visual design elements added to give the site its AVC personality. The comments on AVC will look exactly as they do on Deadspin and all other Kinja sites, but your feedback on this topic is noted and appreciated.

You may end up with two separate accounts on Kinja, since you have a new Disqus account and an old A.V. Club account, but we'll do our best to ensure that you'll have both your accounts and the comments that go along with them. You'll be able to merge the two Kinja accounts into a single Not a Beard master account.

You can change your username whenever you want.

"so basically we can ask questions, and get answers but the decision is made, set in stone, and all arguments for and against are simply irrelevant. as with every one of the previous changes."

When it's all said and done and we're living in the dystopian future we were promised by countless science fiction authors, the only things that will remain are commenters asking for nested replies and me saying we'll look into it.

That's a a good typo that I won't edit.

Your optimism is giving me life. I've met Matt, and I agree that he is a superstar — we're giving him the tools to succeed.

Our writers are VIP users. We make significant feature changes in response to their feedback very often. It's only a matter of time before we being addressing feedback from commenters.

We're hiring. You should apply and either make the positive change you want to see or take us out from the inside. http://gizmodo.com/careers

Each and every one of your points are on my list of feature requests I've taken from this town hall. One thing I'd like you to clarify, the "ability to port AV Club accounts outside of Discus[sic]" — could you explain what you mean by that?

You cheeky little Box of Cotton Swabs. By the way, the next iteration of Kinja's video experience was built because we didn't have video features on par with A.V. Club's. The feature gap between Kinja and A.V. Club was so wide, we had to focus our entire team's effort on eliminating that gap — which we have! Once AVC

Thanks for clarifying. We've never quite done anything as ambitious as moving the A.V. Club to Kinja. The feature gap between the two CMS was so wide, we needed months of work to close that gap. Post launch we'll definitely be turning an eye to the community and comments. Stay with us and keep offering your feedback

Thank you for the input. It's the top point of my list of community feature requests. I don't plan and develop Kinja singlehandedly (it would be much worse if I did) so having that on a feature request list is the first step in getting the feature implemented.

We have no plans to address threading right now, but this town hall has been an excellent exercise is identifying commenting painpoints that long time Kinja users have grown accustomed to. It's very high on my list of community feature requests that the Product team will review.

I see. Unfortunately they cannot. But I've got this feature on my list of community requests.

I'm certainly not pointing a finger at the community saying that it's your problem. Absolutely not. The onus on us is to refine our commenting system in order to make it feel more like home to you. But you have to understand that we will make some decisions that aren't unanimously approved by the commentariat, and
