Yes - that's why all these high-performance aircraft need refueling right after takeoff - they use so much fuel on takeoff, and they can't be totally full when they take off, otherwise they'd never get off the ground with a load. It's routine.

That's old school - from before they started charging extra for everything - including exit row seating. I'm not saying it's right, it's just the way it is. If you don't like it, drive!
