Let’s not forget about the young black man who worked his tail off and got 20 college acceptances - including 4 Ivies, and then a Fox affiliate whined that he was “obnoxious” and“taking spots away” from deserving* applicants. As if when he turned them down they wouldn’t offer that spot to the next person on the list
I went deep and found an article that published the emails. The Hoffman/Macy daughter was legitimately granted double time by the College Board. It’s not super unusual for kids with certain learning disabilities*. That kid probably had no idea her mom cheated on her behalf. The others...eh, not so much.

Truth. If we change it because they claim TERF is a slur, it’ll only lend power to that idea. White people don’t get to decide that being called white (or “cracker”) is insulting/racist, and TERFs don’t get to decide that TERF is a slur-especially when they themselves initially popularized it.
I think it is important to call them what they don’t want to be called.
Much as I wish that was true, TERFs have a long history of working with social conservatives to crap on trans women-all the way back to the 70s, when they were kicking trans women out of lesbian collectives and advocating against trans rights to the government. Their politics have not grown more progressive since then.
I realize these people don’t think through their nonsense positions, but she’s advocating for the disabled to be armed. As a disabled person, one of my physical limitations is grip (I go through a set of drinking glasses every six months!), and this is really quite a common disability resulting from myriad conditions.…

So am I. He was a monster, but they were supposed to be good people. Special space in hell for someone who betrays their own children for money.
She is a well established interviewer. That’s what this was. Then add in her own personal experience and her years of covering this subject. I cant’ think of many tv personalities more qualified to lead this discussion.
Because she has experienced it and spent a good portion of her career interviewing researchers, advocates, victims and abusers. I have a lot of problems with Oprah, but this is one thing she is actually qualified to discuss and has done a lot of advocacy on.
