I agree with you in sentiment, as I’m wholly in favor of autonomous vehicles and believe that they will transform and disrupt society like few technologies ever have.

You miss the whole point that in the long run, those “sensors” will be making everyone far more safe than the state we have now, where safety depends on every human maintaining vigilance at all times. I trust a computer over a human.
