to be fair, real henna is made from ground of henna leaves & whatever your mixing agent is (water, tea, lemon juice, essential oils), so there are no added dyes. whereas "black henna" is a nasty mix of chemicals and dyes and can cause permanent scarring...so i could see why someone would want to differentiate.
