Look at the quality of life outcomes in the nordic countries if you want to know how they’re successes. In terms of righward trends, they are certainly there but only in a few limited policy areas.

Are you talking about having a gun stolen or a death/injury due to accidental shooting? Because both of those are way more likely than shooting someone in self defense. If you want to take the side of stats over anecdotes in the gun debate I think you’re barking up the wrong tree.

People are bad at risk assessment. The risk of a home invasion that is mitigated by having a gun in the house is orders of magnitude smaller than the risk created by having that gun in the house but good luck convincing the “home defence” people of that.

Most of the successful social democracies today didn’t get there through violent revolution. The model most people on the far left want is Norway or Denmark not Cuba or the USSR.
