Yeah $190 seems pretty cheap for a fox.

In an average NHL game a goalie would face ~30 shots and let in 2.5-3 goals.

Here’s my question, never having been there, does living in New Jersey mean you need and AWD? People seem to always say things like “living in X I need AWD” when X doesn’t seem somewhere particularly challenging in terms of geography or weather.

I was going to make a more general joke about Italian cars based on the 36% of buses being inoperable bit. Is that original enough for you?

Come to think of it, with the number of urban deer in my area I probably could shoot one from my bed if I was so inclined. I’m not sure the cops would buy a garden defense=self defense argument though.

She must have a thing for turtles.

Not for the uses I have them for. I’ve never had to roll out of bed and shoot a deer or duck.

These kinds of comparisons are inherently imprecise but I’d say that run of the mill leftists in the US probably want to go about as far as Canada. I really doubt the Clinton wing of the democratic party would be on board with a nordic style tax rate and welfare state. The Bernie Sanders wing of things would be the

Look at the quality of life outcomes in the nordic countries if you want to know how they’re successes. In terms of righward trends, they are certainly there but only in a few limited policy areas.

Most of those people aren’t NRA members. I own guns for hunting and protecting my livestock against predators. I wouldn’t be caught dead at an NRA convention.

Are you talking about having a gun stolen or a death/injury due to accidental shooting? Because both of those are way more likely than shooting someone in self defense. If you want to take the side of stats over anecdotes in the gun debate I think you’re barking up the wrong tree.

This analogy is missing a group. Heavily armed sheep running around terrified of wolves but unable to distinguish between the other three groups. Guess which category most NRA members fall into?

People are bad at risk assessment. The risk of a home invasion that is mitigated by having a gun in the house is orders of magnitude smaller than the risk created by having that gun in the house but good luck convincing the “home defence” people of that.

Most of the successful social democracies today didn’t get there through violent revolution. The model most people on the far left want is Norway or Denmark not Cuba or the USSR.

Maybe I need to read more HamNo so feel free to correct me if I missed anything, but I don’t remember him advocating violent insurrection.

You should try selling them. At least where I live the demand is huge. I charge $6 per doz. and I’ve got a waiting list.

Right? The “follow California law” bit is pretty rich coming from a guy who can’t set foot in California.

I’ve thought for a while the Scouts Canada should expand into the US to provide a more progressive alternative to the BSA.

Utah is something like 2/3 mormon right? I’ve got to think that the BSA in Utah is even more mormon than that if most mormon boys are members. This is going to leave the BSA a shell in Utah. Presumably they have quite a few assets in Utah they could sell to the LDS.

While we’re talking about eyelids, do we know for sure that the baby doesn’t have a nictitating membrane? Maybe the father is a loris or seal.
