I’m literally the target audience on this one, and nope.  $3500, not a dime over.

I’ve got 2 Legacy’s for my wife and daughter - they do OK on regular tires, but with Chicago snow/ice/potholes, it’s Blizzaks on steelies come Thanksgiving.... It’s not the ‘go’ I’m worried about as much - it’s the ‘stop’ and winter tires just work better at those temperatures.

a Mustang in the snow is a drag, even on winter tires - I’m a Mustang guy too.  Skinnier the better, but it looks weird....what’s a feller to do tho?  In my case, a Crown Vic as a winter beater, also on snows - at least it has enough clearance to make it over the snow ruts without getting high-centered.  RAV’s are

came here to say this - absolutely 100% best investment north of the Mason-Dixon line - better than AWD.

absolutely no - and what as waste of an otherwise banal sporty car to have kept it in the garage all those years.  Just no...  20 grand, sure...

I owned a Lincoln LS.  Single worst vehicle I’ve ever owned - and there’s been a LOT in 40 years of being an enthusiast and occasional flipper.  The T-bird was an uglier version of that hot pile of garbage -  Original postulus holds - 11th Gen T-Bird carries the water on this question.

saw a shell with no floor yesterday on Marketplace for $900, like whaaaaat?

nope - only way is to part this out, and you can certainly get more money out than you put in parting it out  - i know because I did one of these 2 years ago - and that juice ain’t worth the squeeze.

they money those cars are bringing is nuts - and sure, pile a bunch of money in and have the nicest MK1 - you still end up with a MK1 and could have spent/had something much cooler.

but it’s pocket money for the person who will actually buy it and caretake it for a while - something like this is SUPER niche market of that weird dude down the block with more money and time than most of us will ever have who likes to go to Radwood for the irony factor

I test drove one of these in ‘86 - at the time I drove a ‘79 Rabbit. They were more similar than different - though the VW was better in pretty much every way, from build quality, materials, etc. The thing I liked least was the super rubbery and vague action of the 4 speed stick, in marked contrast to the Rabbit,

No.  that is all.

5 grand is the right price - but the bra certainly adds the remainder

ah, how far Jalopnik has strayed from its mission over the years. This is foundational stuff right here. Tavarish would have voted NP...betcha. $60k #vanlife nonsense by unemployed millenials chasing onlyfans dollars killed so many opportunities to relish the value that a modicum of effort exerted holds in life’s

unless there’s a duffel bag with 6 grand in the trunk, this is nonsense.  Bring back the CP button...

I have - love these cars - just saying the juice ain’t worth the squeeze on this one - it’s in the drama zone.  It’s WORTH 5 grand - nobody’s gonna buy/sell that car for 5 grand in today’s market.....they will when the economy craps out here in a bit....

yeah, that’s the point - good ones are about $25-30K, which is probably a better purchase than this one at half that money - it’s not what you buy it for, it’s what you spend on it, and what you get out of it when you move it along later. This one’s a loser - a better car is a better purchase on these IMO

I don’t think anyone will sell that car for 5 grand - nor will I buy it for 14 grand, my mom ain’t got nothing to do with that

nope - cool car - find a better option if in the market for such things.  This is a $5K car in a $14K world.
