It was book five of the Vampire Chronicles that made me give up, even as a teenager (and I actually lined up to get her to sign my Memnoch—I think I was the only teen there who wasn’t dressed as... well as one might expect.)  And I mean I made it through the Sleeping Beauty books (but probably just because--and in

Thank you.  I admit I *still* seem to have no sense of time even with the pandemic (kinda?) over, but this article confused the fuck out of me for, well, all the reasons you give...

Very valid point :P

As a Canadian, I don’t think there is any reason that the show did better here except to show that Canada has as much bad taste as anywhere else.  Great cast, but from the two episodes I saw, not even as watchable as a quickly cancelled network series.

I know people who regularly go down to all inclusives in Mexico and don’t leave the resort.  It feels like such a waste to me, but what do I know (I’ve been invited to go with them but can imagine trying to plan some excursions and then just giving up.)

Although presumably when Greg was on the phone on the balcony he was talking to Quentin, no?  But you’re right-nothing was explicitly proven.

Fair enough--I’m just not sure where the skepticism is coming from.  Disney recently did an overlay making the still VERY popular Tower of Terror into a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction for Disney California.  Aside from bucking any controversy with Song of the South, I’m not sure how this is any different.

We saw Cameron have sex on the couch in Ethan’s room with a woman.  Which is why I firmly believe that’s what that condom was from...

Sure, but there’s also the reason that these people having a big party would probably want to have coke at that party....

Brief projection screens (like those added to the Disneyland Fantasyland dark rides) can be used very well, but overall I agree with you.  Of course most of those original animatronics were repurposed from America Sings so are... 40+ years old now?  I’m not sure if that will be an issue as an awful lot of them count

I mean they just released an actual closing date, but OK...

I haven’t listened to the podcast yet, but the main idea seemed to be the head of Disney attractions wanted a flume ride, Tony Baxter, Disney’s best imagineer at the time knew they wanted to bring more guests to the least popular part of the park Bear Country (which they renamed Critter Country) and they knew they

What earlier flume ride? Imagineer Tony Baxter came up with the idea in the early 80s, as Zip a Dee River Run but using a lot of the animatronics from the then closing show America Sings who just happened to largely be animals who might live in the swamps. It was Michael Eisner’s “brilliant” idea to rename it Splash

Yeah I saw Song of the South in the mid 80s...

Super pedantic, but Splash Mountain opened first in 1989, not ‘92 (this was at Disneyland--’92 is probably the date of the Magic Kingdom version?)  I remember well because that was our first family trip to Disneyland, and the whole time I was aware that if we had gone just a month later we could have rode it.

It’s a pretty famous quote (well if you read Vidal’s essays) and the line is “bought” sex not bored sex.  Vidal didn’t find sex boring but he did prefer to buy it...

They did show Cameron having sex with Lucia on the actual couch though--and no one else having sex on it...

Valentina is rigid because she exists in a very homophobic traditional society, my heart still goes out to her as miscalculated as she is.”

I think that’s mostly fair. She doesn’t seem to be able to navigate the signs well—so she’s shocked when her coworker shows admiration for her, completely misreads it and now

at least even take Tanya’s original advice as far as going away and doing something else there in order to not be seen by her husband.”

But her advice was that she should stay shut up in her hotel room so she would always be available just in case--unless she is truly getting paid royally, that’s not the kind of

But with all the talk of Greg signing a prenup would Tanya have set him up to get her fortune if she dies?
