A good point. However, morals don't dictate afterlife consequences while religions do. So for someone to whom a religion is real, they don't want to burn in hell (or whatever) because some jerk lied to him about mixing meat and non-meat. That actually sounds pretty awesome. I mean, there are some people for whom science means nothing, but I'm always in favor of science over people's stories which may make things sound different from the norm because of selection bias - say, for example, the types of men and women who read Jezebel.
