Depends what they do. For my in-laws we got them Chromebooks - damn near impossible to screw up and for my wife's aunt - Ubuntu. No problems since we did that.
That's cool as long as that person is willing to pay the difference
I do this for my cubicle (30 family photos of various sizes) and for picture frames throughout the house.
awesome point! Great job on doing the math
I agree. I took an entire semester in undergrad in which a significant chunk was how to create proper presentation slides. But pissing off the bosses isn't great for promotion.
My response to them: Getting the car here is not my problem and also a sunk cost. This is the price we negotiated - this is the price I pay. (Plus tax)
There's one exception to the powerpoint as a cue for presentation. There are some places where the culture is for powerpoints to be emailed around so they need to have enough explanation on their own.
You need passion. Doesn't matter how awesome your slides are if you sound like Ben Stein
I respect your belief in the system. Stuff like the flash crash or automated programs causing the stocks to dip because of a fake report of a bomb at the White House don't exactly fill me with optimism. Also, if you would be so kind as to answer - why does investment have a positive expected rate of return? Because it…
Yeah, if you have crazy hedge designs and ALSO are one of those time-is-money people then the pros make sense. (Like Bill Gates)
Yeah, except for something that depressed me the other day. See, I was one of those "pirate because I have no money" people. As soon as I got a job, I paid Adobe lots of money to buy the software. They won because I was used to Adobe software and so I preferred it to relearning everything in GIMP and DigiKam.
Other than 401k which is usually free money thanks to employer matching, I think you should pay off your student loans first. Investing == gambling. You might get money or you might not. Just pay off your loan so that when something happens - like your car breaks and you need to buy a new one, you actually have room…
Amen, dude. As an American I'm used to going to a store and paying that price. When I hear about countries where everything is a haggle I just think about how exhausting it must be to buy stuff. Just make a price and everyone has to pay that price. Done.
my dad has the same experience - the neighborhood kids do a better job for less
based on what I read regarding astronauts, supplements really suck compared to eating the right food. But I guess if that's not an option - poverty or whatever - then vitamin pills are better than no vitamins. Don't want to get a case of scurvy!
About 6 or so years now. Just use Netflix and HD antenna. Supplemented by Hulu (free, not paid) for about 3 shows and a little Amazon. (Two comedy specials)
I think it'll PROBABLY be like the pot thing. It was a big deal for Clinton. No one gave a crap for Obama.
I'm very conscious of the job one. When in doubt, only post about your job when you're having a good day.
who competes with them? Whenever image editing comes up I hear about Photoshop and GIMP. Who are these others who will be able to force Adobe to continue to innovate? It certainly isn't GIMP - they can't get their act together.
