Why does it seem weird to no one else but me that VW is only offering 6 year warranties on 2 of its models? What other manufacturer offers different warranties for different models?

I think they’re trying to halo the brand, which is vanilla, with something sexy. They might be willing to sacrifice volume for image attributes that appeal to a younger demographic. Like Scion was supposed to do.

Wondering if the reason is that Apple and Google are going into the car business, and the real fight in the future is going to be on the OS side of things rather than the mechanicals, which will be increasingly seen as generic.
