No, you're right. Guys can be known for it too.
Thank you for telling me to grow up. I will try and follow your lead by telling other people that they are belittling others then do the exact same thing.
"Lots of internet guys" is pretty vague. How big do you think my swath is?
Hmm, thank you for not saying "cuck" or "white knight". Those trigger my jimmies somethin' fierce!
I certainly hope so!
I guess that's fair. Look, if I think something is sexist I'm going to say "I think that's sexist." You can't JUSTIFY it by saying "Hey that's the way the source material is" because the creators have the ability to change it's nature. That's my opinion though, you're certainly allowed to disagree with me.
Thank you for your important contribution. I am glad to know that you do not think highly of me and wish to improve my contributor status with you in future discussions.
Superman wasn't sexualized. How many times did you see his ass? His crotch? How many times did the camera linger on a certain part of his anatomy in a way that might have made you feel a little uneasy? That kind of shit doesn't happen outside of Batman And Robin for male characters. Cap and Thor were, but for like ONE…
So are you saying that writers, producers, and directors don't have the ability to adjust a character that people might have problems with in order to make it less offensive?
Thank you very much for your contribution to this exciting conversation. I am excited to see future comments from you to get your insights!
"Slutty sells" is kinda institutional sexism, yeah? Selling women's asses to ANYONE but not selling men's asses is kinda sexist.
Nor for Margot Robbie, but for anyone. It's a female character, and therefore it's sexualized. It looks like Amanda Waller wasn't sexualized like that, so good for them? But I'd argue we see it happening more often than not.
Thank you for your best wishes. It is my utmost hope that I will indeed have better luck next time. Hopefully your all-important opinion of me will be higher on my next post.
Also, if institutional sexism is obviously a problem, why is it so difficult to say "Yeah, it's kind of sexist to turn a character with so much potential into just eye-candy' is an example when that shit happens as much as it does?
It's kind of a problem if she's a talented actor who's forced into demeaning positions if she wants to act.
That's a very exciting comment for me to receive. Thank you for the opportunity to read your words. I shall remember this day always.
You're just reinforcing my point, guys.
"Oh my God, can we stop talking about institutional sexism? It's bumming me out." -Lots of Internet Guys
The A.V. Club has the only comments section I can bring myself to read. Here it's no different. It's good to know that human compassion is still alive in some corners of the internet. So thank you guys for that.
