Chinatown is one of my favorite movies and I don’t like this idea. Not knowing what happened in Chinatown (the place) prior to the film’s main storyline gave Gittes so much complexity. I can only assume this prequel will attempt clear that up for us, and nobody is asking for it.

its a prequel *slap* it’s a sequel *slap* its a prequel *slap* it’s a sequel *slap* it’s a prequel AND a sequel!!!!!

Young Jake Gittes: “I can say with complete confidence that no one will ever cut my nose open with a knife.”

but I always wonder who are those ~10% who vote NP on something like this

“Best Comics” lists usually involve people trying to prove how artsy they are by naming a bunch of indy and underground comics and avoiding stuff from the major publishers even when it’s quite good. In addition to Wicked Divine and Sex Criminals I’d add Vision and Lumberjanes to that list.

Yeah, this seems a bit try-hard.

He still should have tipped at least 20% on the drink. Maybe more to compensate the bartender for the mental distress of being forced to cooperate in the scheme by the billionaire owners of the bar.

I mean, he’s a 45-year-old depressed twice-divorced alcoholic with a record who seems to think his height is the main potential obstacle to a healthy online dating life. I say this with no personal judgement about any of that stuff (at least without context), but I’m not sure he’s correctly identified the biggest

Well, no - they don’t want to own all those autonomous cars. They want YOU to own your autonomous car, drive it to work in the morning, have it come back home to shuttle your kids to school, then turn itself into an autonomous Uber for most of the day. Because owning (and maintaining) all those is incredibly capital

I don’t know. Don’t people understand that you insurance company is looking for an excuse NOT to pay you? If you have an accident and they can prove that you are a ridesharing provider, they aren’t paying crap.

100%. Every Asian noodle soup qualifies as a complete meal and that’s how they are traditionally served and consumed.

Then there are many other things that would also be considered “not a meal” simply because they lack sides.

Reddit is generally a cesspit, but often a valuable source of schadenfreude and morbidly fascinating anecdotes. The number of people who have no idea how to be people is pretty astonishing.

It’s par for the course for this column series; the customer is always wrong (and is an asshole, and should be tipping better).

This is another reason to be amazed LeBron went to 8 straight Finals.

If you go into a brew pub and their pilsner or lager is garbage, you can assume they don’t know how to brew beer or are just bad at it. You can’t hide behind hops and any short cuts taken are obvious.

Same here. At 6'4 I feel like I’m right on the cusp being able to function in normal society without extreme discomfort. I’ve hit my head on things that “normals” never have to worry about.

What shitty browsers are you people using that necessitates these comments on every post? I don't get many ads, no autoplay, and certainly nothing crashing the site.

Ah, yes...the problem with this movie was that it was not long enough...

Ha I forgot about the saving the horses part....maybe I was blocking it out. It’s a kids movie sure, but it wasn’t in the beginning, it was just a good scifi movie. Oh well, guess it sells more tickets if it’s geared directly towards kids.
