Thank you. It still irks me how much the DS writers carried water for her after this incident. She has these melt downs every time she loses. This wasn’t some one off incident of everyone being prejudiced against her. Ffs she threatened to kill a line judge on that exact same court.

I now consider this matter 95% closed. This is as much of an apology as we can expect from a superb athlete and spoiled habitual champion as Serena.

Pass. I can see she is still taking no responsibility and just trying to pass the buck. She was in the wrong and no amount of race blaming with change that hard and simple truth. Osaka has to take some pride in knowing that she crushed Serena in a grand slam final to the point that Serena flipped her shit on her racket and the ump. Then she felt so bad that she sent an apology letter.

I’m not sure being a bad loser covers it when you make threats against the officials when you don’t like their calls.

She can be considered the greatest player of all time (definitely is for me), esp. considering the ugly levels of racism she’s certainly faced along the way, *and* have some truly dickbag, heelish moments like threatening line umps with tennis ball suffocation and stealing Osaka’s limelight with pissy temper…

I’m pretty much in the bag for Serena Williams as a rule. She’s been one of my favorite athletes for 20 years. That being said, she isn’t and has never been a good loser and that day certainly wasn’t one of her finer moments. She embarrassed herself and basically ruined Naomi Osaka’s moment.
