I like how Segel says, “I would separate them, but not in the way you mean.” He turns a question about whether we need to like the artist into whether art should be explained. Obviously, it’s been on his mind.

Oh great call on Magnolia Electric Company.  A lot of Molina’s lyrics are very haunting in hindsight.  Tragic.  The entirety of “Farewell Transmission” is heartbreaking when viewed through that lens.

“I’ve crippled your heart a hundred times and still can’t work out why.

Hammer Down by Magnolia Electric Company:

But is the new Muppets show going to be a new The Muppets Show? I don’t know how they missed that lesson when (most) everyone loved Jason Segal’s Muppet movie, but I still hope...

It’s kind of cheating because it really isn’t a “line” but the last part of Black by Pearl Jam is just gutting:

I have thoughts on that! “According to our studies, if the people of the world masturbate just eight percent more, civilization will collapse.” I watched it because it was Home Movies-adjacent and was suitably crestfallen when it ended.

I saw the Burning Man episode.  I didn’t think it was great, but I still get a chuckle out of “Get behind me, Satan!”  “I’m sorry, I just have a problem with that phrase.”

I thought about commenting on that and a few others, but if they did single season Adult Swim shows, there’d be like forty additional entries

A chef, a trained professional, should know better than someone with no training.

Order well done steak at fancy restaurant against advice of entire service staff. Steak is terrible. Leave bad Yelp review.

I honestly think this has an Arrested-Development level of joke density and cross referencing. I especially admired the bit about the combination to the city (“8"), and the capper: “We already changed it seven times, we can change it again.”
