I like the idea, but it’s still too pale. Get Sandra Oh, Manny Jacinto (!), Kevin Hanchard, Lyndie Greenwood, or Hayley Law in there somehow.

I think Sasquatch’s alter ego is Polish/Eastern European — you might need to keep him white in order to avoid the minority-as-beast optics, but Shaman and Snowbird are First Nations and Inuit respectively. Quebecois Northstar is gay and Aurora is neuro-diverse, Puck is a little person, etc. Colorblind cast Guardian

A-Force made me think Marvel should really do something with Alpha Flight. Sure you’ve got a ultra-white leader, but you’ve also got a gay character and two indigenous characters and there’s no reason you can’t colorblind cast the others.

I swear to god, if they try to make Otis Redding look bad in this ...

Speaking of Disney—the Dumbo crows and Song of the South get all the rebuke, but get a load of the blackfish from The Little Mermaid:

On a recent rewatch I was worried OJ would ruin it, but yeah the relentlessness of the abuse heaped on him turned out to be a huge plus.

I know the zoning thing sucks but are we just flat out ignoring what Bee’s justifiable feminine rage contributes to the DS alumni legacy?

It’s not great, Bob.

PFT’s Peanut Brittle is an Oscar-winning short waiting to happen.

The “I want” impulse is one thing, but her merfolk self-loathing and desire to be something else can really touch the ol’ cultural assimilation nerve if you’re so inclined.

I appreciate the thought you put into this.

There was a time when the online conversation about this movie zeroed in on WALL-E’s questionable courtship of an incapacitated EVE, and I get that rewarding WALL-E’s presumption is not a great message. But EVE does develop in her own way and is an under-acknowledged character, driving a lot of the late action.

It’s also pretty bad; I get what they were going for but it just doesn’t work.

Clem Fandango walked so Jackie Daytona could fly

I very much appreciate that (sadly, I’m a irredeemable completist), but I guess I think the scale of the ending should be commensurate with the amount of play-time invested.

New Game + and post-ending play has neutered the impact of endings for me.

Summer of 86'd

I was going to suggest that Colin Robinson should get into MLMs in a future episode, but then I realized that vampirism is itself a pyramid scheme.

KITH has aged better, though. The show now largely comes off as equal parts camp exploitation and bold progressivism.
