Not sure I agree. The rear looks great even by modern standards. This concept is from 2004 mind you, but it features a full brake light bar like is popular today. Also those ducts at the bottom corners of the rear bumper are on seemingly every german car today. This design is ahead of its time by a good 15 years.

Put the IDx body on a Leaf chassis and I’d buy one tomorrow. Perfect around-town car that doesn’t looks like a Nissan Leaf.
