i agree that it’s not the most efficient use of gasoline, and i don’t think anyone is arguing that. it would be dumb to build one of these that isn’t intended to run mainly on electricity stored from plugging it in. the advantages to this configuration are twofold. one, you won’t get stranded anywhere that has

i live in a suburb of Dallas, so i’m about to run out of gas.

that doesn’t answer my question. is it the peak of production by choice?

that doesn’t answer my question. is it the peak of production by choice?

i mean, i’m grateful to Musk because I don’t think the Taycan would exist if it weren’t for him strutting around and talking shit all the time.

fucking what? no. not even if i was a scout for a live action Wacky Races movie. the owner would be a fool to turn down an offer of $1500.

i’m still a little confused about how oil companies define peak oil. as a tree-hugging climate warrior and protector of the environment that owns four cars, two of which get less than 14mpg, i thought peak oil was related to how much oil it was possible to produce. but a jalopnik post last year gave me the impression

early termination fees are a bitch. they are running this thing like they are CellularOne in 1998.

they are printing money right now, but FCA is an ongoing concern. not spending R&D money is one of the things that killed AMC and didn’t help Jag in the last part of the 20th century. don’t get me wrong, i like that i can pull from 20 years’ worth of wrecks for parts for my Grand Wagoneer and my XJS, but if they don’t

I always liked the late 70s Aston Martin attempt at muscle car wheels.

this is worrisome to me. it’s like they are saying we aren’t going to sell any of these cars after this year but i don’t really see production models of replacements. i hope Lotus really is ready to bring out 3 or 5 new models.

anecdotally, the CVT on my C-HR needed replacement at 70k miles and the replacement transmission was backordered for 2 months. there was a line 35 deep, and the car had only been sold in the US for 2 years. this was pre-covid. but also, Corolla pre-2020 had recalls and there have been a lot of replacements.

yeah my problem isn’t with the modern interior. my problem is with the give-up as far as aesthetics. all that looks looks awful. they should have put some thought into that part.

hm. seems like there was a story a few months back where a Tesla customer complained that their suspension collapsed and Tesla was all THERE IS NO WAY THIS JUST HAPPENED.

gross. fuck all that, throw it in the trash. also, stop lying about your check engine light, asshole.

i had one of these as a rental last month. it was fine. for its segment, it was pretty fucking good actually. i’d rather eat a nissan cvt than own one, but even toyota’s don’t last 100k miles. what i’m trying to say here is, the worst thing about a Nissan Kicks, by far, is the name. it’s not a bad little heap.

i’m a minimalist, but it would REALLY bother me that this thing doesn’t have an oven. THIS CONCLUDES YOUR TOUR OF MY TRAVELING ABODE. MAY I INTEREST YOU IN A HOT POCKET?

and now that we’ve all seen this ad, it wouldn’t be that cool to take to Radwood. the only question anyone would ask about it is “Did you really pay the $11k?”

i have no issues whatsoever with this car’s looks.

my 88 grand wagoneer. losing my garage space in a divorce and moving to CA in April. It’s got a 401 in it with no smog equipment. it’s never going to be legal where i’m moving so i’ll have to sell it. it’s a shame because i just had the engine rebuilt and it’s a monster.
