Getting 25 mpg rather than the reported 30 mpg means 16% more fuel, and a 16% increase in mostly greenhouse gas emissions. VW’s emissions cheat means almost 40x more NOx emissions than it was certified to. NOx is bad stuff and already high enough at the certification levels.
