If you look at all the shapes and lines on the bodywork, it looks like the bean counters finally said, “Ok. You guys can have that 3rd stamping on the panel and you can also buy that additional tool.”

Please. Make it stop.
You definition of failure will bankrupt an automobile company.
M20A. They can rework the head for performance and probably get another 15hp. Why would you want to use such an ancient design considering how great the latest crop of Toyota NA engines are.
Ni-San
I think this touches on an important point. Looking beautiful doesn’t sell cars or generate interest. Standing out from past design does. That’s why they always glom on the same bad design trends.
Unlike the other two, Toyota already has a donor powertrain...
50K units a year is a failure considering the hundreds of thousands of engines Mazda was building every year.
Another car name that’s fun to say with a Japanese pronunciation.
Rotary nerds are an interesting bunch. It was an interesting idea in theory that just never worked in practice and yet they’re willing to tolerate all the quirks just so they can have something “unique”.
You can have almost 2 LS engines for the weight of a 2JZ.
It has a point. The hoonigan crowd do the swap. It will not work as intended because it will be a pointlessly nose heavy car.
5th gen civic.
All of the above don’t have true commercial HD transmission. That Cummins can power a medium duty city bus with the right transmission. Americans waste it on such low towing capacity. I want a transmission that can lug 20 tons.
1&2 - You need to understand how these industries work, especially music. Shameless copying and improving on existing designs are what move things forward. Complete originality doesn’t exist. Mercedes hasn’t done a proper full size sedan since the W126. They can claim the ultimate, but it’s not proper.
Last I checked the A80 didn’t have 60/40 weight distribution and was balanced around having a very heavy engine. It’s highly unlikely that the A90 will be able to maintain its balance with a 2JZ swap, considering how just the block, head, and turbo likely weigh more than the entire B58 drivetrain.
Does this count?
I’m assuming if you ordering 20,000 of something at the same time, Ford will make custom mods for you.
Don’t you know? Merely asking for data that might point to an obvious conclusion is stabbing at the heart of the save the manuals crowd.
NOTHING beats Toyota switch-gear for reliability, especially at Lexus specs. The level they go through to design/spec their stuff is insane.
