They best hybrid is no hybrid.
They best hybrid is no hybrid.
Nonononono!
Ironically, CA is also the #2 market for the Suburban after TX. We live in a very contradictory state.
Yes. But ICE Corollas are more likely to do it. Hybrids in general have higher failure rates as they get older. If you’re a betting man, then regular Corollas are the way to go.
If it’s 1.6 liter. It had better be an iron block. It can then be designated 4A-GE.
If they do release for America and it’s turbo, I could care less.
Context bro. Context.
Apparently the model itself was a motivator as well. Not all demographics wanted a Prius. They really wanted a Corolla.
The chance you will have a 20 year old regular Corolla will be much higher. Proof. Look outside and count the number of old Toyota Corollas vs 1st and 2nd gen Priuses.
The Japanese car industry didn’t feel the pain until the late 90s. They were still on a tear in the early 90s.
They are heavily dependent on American sales volume. Virtually their entire core lineup is based on American tastes. They were always smaller in Japan compared to the other major players and they are even smaller today. Honda, for all practical purposes has become an American car company.
Honda hasn’t had cojones ever since they couldn’t successfully replace VTEC.
Honda hasn’t been competitive in Europe for a long time. It’s like they never really tried.
Hybrid drivetrains also don’t last 20 years like an ICE.
Counterpoint. The correct version to get is the hatchback with a manual transmission.
You’re missing the most important part. JDM cars have model specific badges. USDM cars need model specific badges. Our marketing departments play it too safe.
The undershirt need to peek out of the sleeve.
Those same internet guys tell you that the manual transmission is what makes it so great for those 8 second runs.
Agree with you there. I’m commenting on the people who always wax on how it could make 700hp. Well it was extremely expensive in the early 90s and they were hard to come by even in Japan. Today it’s much cheaper, but it’s still a sideshow due to its rarity.
I think the point the other guy is trying to make is that it’s not an engine remembered for what it WAS, but rather for what it COULD do.
