Solo runs actually make the game very enjoyable to watch and showcases it's communities dedication to make it fun. Good job to Bungie for removing the remaining fun out of the game

They have to do this stupid shit because that's how copyrights work in the US. The US patent and copyright laws force companies to defend themselves for even unimportant stuff like this because if they don't, it opens the door for other companies to use a name, maybe even more similar than what they are attacking.

I think Molyneux is one of those people that's great at ideas but terrible at execution. That's not a terrible thing, but it can be when there's no one capable in place to help manage that space between concept and completion.
