Shanghai is barely a team. Had China’s Overwatch scene not been incredibly corrupt, we’d be watching Miraculous Youngster (or most of them) compete in the solid tier 1.5-2 area.

Sure, play every hero...in Arcade...or Quick Play...not in Competitive. Don’t head into a gamemode designed specifically around a more competitive experience and start experimenting with crap heroes, there is a place to experiment and it is not that gamemode, at any level.
This is a fantastic idea, I wish we had something from Overwatch’s balance history to compare it to...oh, wait, we do, Mercy and the 5 month cancer meta that she brought with her. If you want to be good at high skill floor or ceiling heroes, get good or stay bad.
“Mercy has always been the game’s most powerful and dedicated healer.”
Welcome to Kotaku, where Counter-Strike and Overwatch have pro scenes that ignore all the incredible female talent that could definitely make top tier professional teams if only the teams didn’t hate women and has nothing to do with not being good enough to make said top tier teams!
Mercy does nothing offensively unless it’s a gimmicky ult or damage boosting a teammate (holding down one mouse button and following them around). She honestly has the lowest level of offense of all supports by a country mile.
In what world is it a controversial change outside of the idiocy that is the Battle.net forums? She was broken overpowered for 5 months, this is a hugely beneficial change for the game.
You’re talking about the Fusion? Poko is absolutely not the best D.Va in the league, nor is he in that discussion.
>calling people names when there are mute and gag functions = ban
So, when does Kotaku actually start covering the matches? Really seems like reporting on or creating mini-controversies is the only thing this OWL staff can do.
London v Philadelphia could be one of the best series of the first week. Philadelphia was underrated by most people coming in because they didn’t play preseason but their roster is very good. London is still figuring things out too, making them a lot more vulnerable than they should be.
Flame and Jake’s comments were really bad, no denying that, and there definitely is an issue with gender in pro video games...but I’m saying that for this specifically, she’s not a good enough player to make OWL and that a lot of people commenting on this don’t really know what they’re talking about.
She’s not good enough to make it. This article’s author and most of the people commenting clearly don’t actually watch Overwatch but are still trying to pile on for the sake of it. Geguri herself came out and discounted the article’s premise.
Geguri isn’t good enough to make any of the full Korean rosters.
Yeah, buff all supports until you can’t kill anything...then buff the DPS so you can kill...then the tanks because they’re being killed too quickly...
She’s incredibly overtuned in her current form and has consistently offered a no skill option for players to abuse and climb with. These nerfs combined with the removal of performance based SR should significantly improve the competitive experience.
One-tricks not switching when they’re being hard countered and doing nothing but feeding the other team = throwing. Competitive is not a place for that type of behavior, it’s absolutely poor teamwork and should be reported as such.
Welcome to Overwatch, where “false reports” are bad enough to draw a manual ban from Blizzard while cheaters and throwers are left to their own devices. It’s reached a point where Blizzard might as well just delete competitive mode, it is in no way different from QP.
Huh? 76 and Rein both have very high skill ceilings.
Crazy part is that this isn’t the best team they could field. Mano is, at best, the fourth best Korean tank (Miro, Kaiser, Fissure), and there are arguably superior DPS options (birding would probably be an upgrade from Saebyeolbe but SBB’s synergy with nanohana matters).
