Live where you live, not in a fantasy of some other place, and LIKE where you live. If you can’t stand snow, don’t move to Vermont or Michigan’s Upper Penninsula. If flat land bores you, get out of the Midwest. If green lawns are key to your happiness, you do not belong in California.

I’m not sure I could love this article more. The author manages to make real points while maintaining an off-the rails voice.

Yeah, this whole post needed an editing pass from a competent High School Junior.

See it in the theater- the size effects may not translate so well on the small screen.
DEFINITELY see it, though. I thought it was pretty damn good, and that while Charlie Jane’s basic thesis was correct (we are now at point that doing a really competent, enjoyable superhero movie isn’t remarkable), she was off on some

Yeah, I dig this pitch.

Nothing about his relationship to Carmella pinged your radar? Or that he also had a hundred other chickens?

Really, they eat enough fish, and the water’s always just a stone’s throw away...

Hope, inspiration, justice, joy... no virtue is relevant. The only relevant things are tortured things.
Jeez, I feel bad for these people- their perception of the world must be so sad.

I agree with you on all this.
I was responding specifically to “Marvel is a studio that puts out like 2 films a year and everyone is like too much Marvel but Sony, WB, and the other big studios put out like 2 films a week and no one thinks that they’ve over-saturated the market.”

There’s no danger at all of people

Yeah- the bare minimum that I want is to see the Hank and Janet recruited in Agent Carter.
OH! How cool would it be if Peggy recruited Janet and Howard recruited Hank?

Though I am really glad to see them pushing Bellucci’s Last Fuckable Day back.
At 50, she’s ten years my senior and still just smoulderingly hot.

No. Spectre isn’t about hurting Bond. Bond isn’t about settling personal scores.
I gave them Skyfall. Let Bond get on with Her Majesty’s business.

Nope. I want Hank & Janet in an 8-or-so episode period piece TV show much like Agent Carter.
Except the setting is, of course, a Madmen’esque mid-sixties New York City.

I don’t know that the bubble needs to pop, necessarily. This may be like cowboy movies, or it may level off into something more like spy movies, where there are always a couple every year and a few TV shows running.

It may just be the coming of age of the genre.
How long has Japan been making kaiju movies?

Sony’s movies aren’t all set in the same universe. In fact, I can’t think of any studio that’s ever put out so many movies set in the same ‘verse in this short a time.

In fact, the only single universe I can think of that’s even HAD this many movies at all is James Bond, and whether all those films are in the same

I only love you more now.

This is terrible. I can’t be the only one who sees that this is terrible, right?

Um... no. Waller isn’t shown to be particularly effective or smart, especially the way she is in the comics. Nor is there any real argument that she’s trying to do good- she’s a cardboard cutout of evil. Launching missiles at Starling? While there are still other options on the table? Really?

Yeah... you’ve kind of listed the shit I don’t want to see, no matter the precedent.

I think that was his chest... in the same way that Salinger’s Captain America had ears.
