I’ve been trying to remove absolute qualitative statements from my vocabulary when it comes to talking about any form of pop culture - music, movies, TV, books, whatever - because enjoyment of any of these things is so subjective. I mean, if the camera’s (not deliberately) not in focus, or there are basic technical

A Fork in the Tale did it better.

I’m flummoxed by all the comments I’m seeing here and elsewhere saying that Tame Impala puts on a mediocre show. Their headlining set at Panorama in 2017 was spec-fucking-tacular. I mean, look at this shit:

“Oh, thank God!”
     - Absolutely no one at all

Still adorable.

I feel like, in order to properly rank this, some of the seasons needed to be broken down even further. The first half of Daredevil Season 2, featuring the introduction of the Punisher and bouncing Matt off of him, was fantastic. The second half, which somehow managed to make ninjas boring and featured shockingly

7 million people? That’s adorable. The NYC “metro area” is generally considered to have around 20.3 million people in it. So, yes, relative to that, I’d say an amount a little more than a third of the size could be considered small.

Travis Scott?

That’s cool. I’m not going to keep debating, as we just have different perspectives on the movie and what it did.

I LOVED Spider-Verse, and no mistake, and I agree that it did a lot of amazing things...but I still think Black Panther was the more interesting film, overall.

Respectfully, I disagree with a lot of what you had to say. :)

He’s developing a show called Devs for FX:

I know it feels like this year has been 1,000 years long, and so February was several centuries ago, but no mention of Black Panther on either the main Top 25 or this list? Oof. I agree that Spider-Verse is brilliant, but show me a super hero movie that elevates the genre more than Ryan Coogler’s work, and I’ll eat my

Came here to say this; glad someone else did. Alex Garland is too good for the modern movie landscape...which is why, I suppose, he’s making the jump to TV.

Public Service Announcement: If you ever get the chance to see Christine & the Queens live, do it. Heloise puts on a phenomenal show.

I love The Dark Crystal so much, and was pretty psyched about this...until I saw the word “prequel.” Ugh. Why?

I’m not usually one to be all, “Great list, but what about Album I Like?” on articles like this, but I’d definitely encourage anyone interested in hip-hop that has something to say to check out Noname’s record, Room 25. I was a little bummed not to see it here.

>Next year, maybe just buy your drugs the old-fashioned way.

It’s discussed and dealt with in the film. Michael says they can’t afford a nanny, and Mary Poppins not to worry, and that they’ll sort it out later...and then, at the end, she collects her payment by reaping the children’s souls.

I think the meta stuff in this review is kind of a weird way to judge a film. As if most major studio motion pictures these days *aren’t* some form of cash grab? I’m as cynical and black-hearted as the next cinemaphile, but howzabout we judge the movie on *what* it is, not *why* it is?
