Thanks for the great review, Cecilia!  You mentioned towards the beginning of the article that the combat feels really tight and precise.  Can you comment a little bit more on this?  Specifically, would you say the combat feels closer to Sm4sh or to Melee?  Or is it somehow completely different?

I’ve never played Pocket Camp, but I’ve played New Leaf every day since I got it in February of 2014...currently have 1200+ hours logged in.  No banner ads, no microtransactions!

Contrary to common belief, the final two episodes are absolutely brilliant imo.  It took me probably 3 or 4 views to really *get* what Anno was doing, but it’s fantastic and probably unparalleled in its medium.

According to the trailer, Pauline is speed!  Also, I had no idea that the Japanese name for Luma is Chiko.  Very cute!

I don’t watch or follow football at all, so major caveats to what I’m about to say.  When I see a score a like that, all that comes to my mind is that both teams had godawful defenses.  Can someone who knows more than me confirm or deny?

Hate to be pedantic, but the 11 being “いい” isn’t because the numbers look like いい, but because 1 is いち, shortened in this case to い.

By shaking a Joy Con, you can pop into someone else’s playthrough seamlessly, sharing their experience with them without taking away from their adventure.

Agreed that Earthbound doesn’t live up to the hype.  That said, I know a lot of people think it’s one of the all time greats, and different strokes for different folks, I guess.

No spoilers, but the optional boss WRECKED me.  After about an hour or so I just gave up and beat the game.  The cliffhanger is indeed wild, and I’m already looking forward to how the story’s going to shake out!

I feel like such a chump for buying 1.5+2.5 and 2.8.  I bought them both on sale for pretty cheap, but I’m pretty sure I paid more than $40 total.  Maybe I was just under a rock or something, but I didn’t hear about The Story So Far until,  like, last week?  Was it publicized at all?

Your FFXV review was also really really good!

I think it’s really cool that this is something that would go completely over the heads of most children watching Pokemon, but it was intended for the parents (and other older viewers)

It’s worth looking through the options to see if you can toggle difficulty!  I know that this game has an easier combat difficulty option, for example.  I hope you continue gaming!!

That’s fair. I probably died about 10 times in Cenote (the first big fight with *those* enemies). Have you lowered the combat difficulty?

Do you have any examples? I’m playing through the game right now (a bit past the Cenote sequence) and so far, any optional fights that I’ve died in have spit me back to before the beginning of the fight. The only times that I’ve respawned right at the beginning of a fight are in the main quest line, so you’d have to

Thanks for the detailed (and passionate!) response!

I’m in the same boat as HIHelloYes.  It’s not a huge deal, but I wonder if their preorder guarantee means that we’ll get 20% off $56 instead of $60.

I’ll bite.  I haven’t kept up with competitive melee recently, but was Armada more dominant than Ken was back in his prime?  There was a years-long period when Ken just straight up never lost.  No one was even close until KDJ and PC stepped it up

Seconding the Asian genes comment. I’m Asian and teach at an American high school. I’m almost 30 and still somewhat frequently mistaken for a student.

The Walmart picture claims Dragon Quest 2 is coming. My best guess is that it’s actually DQ 11, but someone interpreted the “11" as the Roman numberal “II”
