As others have said, I do not recommend this. Older toilets are not designed to flush with such little water, and most will either clog their toilets, their septic lines, or have to flush multiple times just to clear the lines.
Agreed. The whole point of the lid is to keep contents sealed from water/insects/pests. I'd rather do this than having a nasty garbage-can-tea-bag seeping poo water onto my lawn or driveway!

No one is doubting that eating vegetables and fruit is healthy; they are stating (quite correctly) that becoming a vegetarian just to avoid food poisoning is a poor excuse. You can get food poisoning from anything you eat, plants included.
