People who say “not all white people are like that” are usually the white people who are like that. Reading the news, it can sure seem as if all white people are like that.
“Can’t we just sell all the people who signed the petition into slavery...”
Everyone in the school knows who they are, and the rest of the white students could refuse to associate with them. If that happened, if white people took out our own trash, we could fix this.
The apology you’re waiting for but will never get:
“A Methodist student named Ta-Quez Harrell, interviewed by the Observer, was told the PowerPoint presentation was meant to be a joke.”
When we updated the story in July, Mount Pleasant Public Schools had determined that the incident was a case of “good intentions” gone awry.
We see our kids as they were in the past, a kind of moving average of the past few months or years (depending on their age) because that’s how we’ve experienced them. No matter the skill, they are almost always ready before we think they are. The live in their bodies in the NOW, they live with the skills and emotions t…
I used to be a “code monkey”, an entry level programmer. It was a semi-official job description. No racial connotations whatsoever. (Jonathan Coulton even wrote a song titled “Code Monkey”.)

Mr. Floyd would…
“Right now, cops want to act like they have unlimited power and no responsibility whatsoever for how that power is used.”
The taxpayers didn’t smash her windows, drag her and her nephew out and beat them in front of her toddler, the cops did that. He’s the main reason I visit this site.
The Roman Empire had a slave-based economy every bit as bad as anything in the Americas. Like the more modern version, Roman slavery was until death and across generations. The “Bread and Circuses” that kept the lower class Roman citizens pacified was paid for by millions of slaves working till death in mines and in…
The smartest ones know to hide it. There aren’t very many of those, but they may be the most dangerous.
Why is it that whenever anyone mentions white people or racism, you automatically attack “the Democrats?” It’s almost like you don’t believe there’s a difference between a Republican and a racist.
