If he’s convicted of the federal civil rights charges he’s facing, he’d have to serve the vast majority of that (85%?) before he’s eligible for parole, and that would be served after this state sentence.

“Considering someone is dead, that’s really a pretty short sentence.”

“My son is a good man!’

Easier to plead out if he hasn’t already confessed in open court.

I believe he still gets his pension.

Still looking out for himself. Any apology would be a confession in his upcoming federal civil rights trial.

She certainly seems to value her (white) happiness over other (lesser Black) people’s happiness. Revolting.

Let me get this out of the way cuz I know someone’s thinking it “Some of you just can’t be happy”

I don’t believe that Chauvin intended to kill George Floyd. I don’t believe Chauvin cared enough to give it any thought at all. That cold, callous look in his eyes as Mr. Floyd died was perhaps worse.

“Are White People OK?”

There will be outrage over this, but when you think about voter suppression, police misconduct, and Matt Gaetz molesting children, I don’t have outrage levt for small stuff. If people don’t like it, they should just not buy it.

If it’s legal, one large school might start adding a cash stipend to their student-athletes’ tuition-books-housing-food scholarship to attract talent away from rivals. It wouldn’t take much; $500 a month for “transportation and other miscellaneous living expenses” would be a big draw for the vast majority of

What would “amateurism in sports” look like? Rich parents pay private coaches for their kids still in T-ball today.

I imagine the colleges paying (all) the players for their practice an playing time, just like I was paid for my time working as a research assistant. As I said, only the star players earning money (however that happens) while leaving the rest unpaid is unsatisfactory.

Even if the few headlining players “got rich”, they can’t play without the rest of the team, nor without opponents on the field. Everybody who plays for the big money deserves a share.

If an unjust system is torn down, don’t bet on its replacement being some new and just system. The NCAA and the colleges still have a strong interest in paying little or nothing to their workforce, and the vast majority of student athletes are still in a very weak negotiating position.

She’s just another grifter surfing Trump’s wake through the pig waste lagoon of Republican America.

I’ll bet Candace Owens has a picture of Bull Conner on her dresser and another of George Wallace on her tightstand.

They didn’t even need to do that. The kids were already moving on.
