“...unless you are going to spend the time to find out who needs it so you can only give it to them (meanwhile, those people are suffering) then you might as well give it to everyone.”

Give money to poor people : They spend it as relief and we get the stimulus too.

I have been...San Diego Food Bank.

If you give money to people who will spend it, that generates demand and companies will hire to fill that demand. If you give money to corporations, they give bonuses to execs and buy back stock to inflate their stock price to keep rich investors happy.

“If we said the stimulus check only goes to those whose employement was impacted, we could probably triple the check amount and send it to 1/3 as many people but actually be a useful amount to those people.”

We’ve always given heavily to charity, and that’s where most of our “stimulus” has gone.

“I’m conflicted that we’re trying to spend 1.9 trillion dollars while we’re over $28 trillion in debt.”

I wouldn’t have any idea, but writers often don’t earn as much as you’d expect.

“Certain income brackets can seem to make a lot of money, but actually carry a ton of debt that means very little room for any kind of financial hardship (job loss, reduced hours, increased cost of childcare or loss of childcare, meaning a parent has to stay home, health issues, caring for sick family member, just

Good use for your family, but it’s not a short-term stimulus to the economy.

Yes. Checks just came in the mail. The most recent was a pre-loaded debit card. Of course it helps to have strong paper ties to the government. People who didn’t file a tax return because they were disabled, unemployed, or retired an living on social security are having a tough time getting theirs. And the homeless?

...and for every case of excessive force, thousands of people live in well-founded fear of excessive force. That’s an enormous burden for them to bear.

True, but I’m doing pretty good. I wasn’t spending much of what I was getting paid before quarantine, and now I’m spending even less. I won’t spend it anytime soon, but give it to someone who has lost a job or someone who makes minimum wage, and they will.

Anywhere but the U.S., our most liberal politicians would be moderates.

I’m a conflicted over this. I got the full $1,200 as did my wife and eldest daughter, and my youngest daughter got $500. The thing is, wife and I make good money and daughters are attending school on scholarships and grants. None of us has lost a dime.

Voting (D) is their version of voter fraud. You know it, I know it, and they know it.

Isn’t every day “International Men’s Day”? I’m a white man, though I didn’t choose it and I don’t support it intentionally, it feels like every day is my day.

Dammit. Why did this ^^^ get pasted here as if it was a reply to Malcire? I mean, I like his point, but I was replying to the original article.

“I want to kind of interject with that last statement. I’m personally offended at one, attack at police officers, because it’s a minute portion and statistics show it. It’s a minute statistic to throw police under the bus. One hundred percent I completely disagree with you,” Kurth said.

Poorly composed writing shows disrespect for readers. It still happens from time to time, but I hate doing it.
